i got really spooked by one of my supervisors called Geraldine today. she actually asked me if i'd like to stay on at work for roughly another 3 hours and end at 645pm rather than the timing the roster planned for me to clock out (4pm). like... ARGH! thankfully i turned down the *clears throat* kind offer... altho i'd earn enough for a few days bus fare. i'm using adult fare and it totally sucks. sickening to the point that it just saps a good portion of what i save.

i got one weird assignment today. and it was being at the head of the ticketing booth queue at e entrance to do crowd control for e whole time and i was e only one cos e queue turned out to be super controllable. today's lunch was so meagre that i was so tempted to eat at least 2 more packets. i don't even know why we had to eat in the office anyway. no cordial or extra food when it's sometimes not bad. but today it was just... well... normal. well... that's to put it nicely. heh.

ahhh... life moves on. people come and go. some awesome colleagues just got stuff on. its always awesome to grab a nice fat filling sundae with them which doesn't actually turn ur mind on to the sinfulness of it all.

managed to meet up with some nice people who i met at Timothy's church camp. and Tim himself too. it was awesome catching up with him amidst all e crazy hoo-hah that was going on when his church youth could be seen mobbing plaza singapura's fast food outlets. i managed to refresh my memory on the acquaintances that i had made at the camp which were good ones anyway. and YIKES! when i got home i missed e whole of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Animated Series on Channel 5. haha.

going to help out for orientation back @ cjc. haha. it's gonna be a blast. totally revolutionized.

mojo jojos
Tuesday, January 27, 2009

everyone says that its CNY is always a time to get fat and flush it all off later in the form of human waste and perspiration. but somehow and surprisingly so, i have not been able to feast on the great feast for unknown reasons. I wanna eat but i don't. the most i probably ate was at Auntie Karen's house where i spent time with people i have lived under the same roof for a few years due to some touchy circumstances. but living with them was awesome. the 3 Js (Jade, Jill and Joey). going hyper every night at home was like a case of an unrelenting flow of adrenaline. and then we'd just plop onto bed straightaway after a short bath. the 2nd time i ate e most should be at Titus's cos we had a eating game in the form of penalties for blackjack in bak gua which costs a bomb of $48/kg.

one observation today after a good time at Titus's:
u know people who wear caps on top of their heads, letting it sit and not such that it wraps nicely around the head? (i shan't use the commonly known offensive name) though i've seen it many times... this just came to me. i thought of mojo jojo and how he has sick protruding brains that stick way out that he has to wear a sort of songkok (i hope i spelt it correctly). well... maybe they were trying to put forth that statement to say they've got brains that big. but then... it REALLY turns out to be HOT AIR.

fashion. its a wonder of the mind. and what's on top of it.

when blockbusters are made

Made awesome and funny short vids with the 3 of them (Sherman, David and Han). It was really an awesome day of both exercise and random spontaneous skits. It's not gone through the final process of editing yet tho. haha. but we all know now how RIBENA can impact lives. facebook will update you.

i probably made the most expensive decision in my life to go to church so many times this week. the cost of taking the bus to church and back home amounts to at least $2.50 each time. and also the lost of sleep that i might have endured. all in all... i've gone back 5 times for separate events. but i'd say that it was more than worth the full sum anyway. i can't discount going for institute and mutual so that's a different issue but it was awesome anyway. but going back thrice for seminary consecutively was also an enlightening occasion as the lessons given by Sis. Kate kinda really linked to what kinda of emotional and mental and psychokinetic traumas that i have been having, both long and short.

Thursday's lesson was the one that hit the nail squarely on its head. Sometimes... we really can't expect anything in return even we go all out to do nice things for others. It's just like how we should always have the receiver in mind rather than the outcome that we hope to ensure. well... the issue that i had to reflect on had a much deeper insight. this was just a comparison. but put in a nutshell... otherwise similar. Then there was e link back to Wednesday's lesson about how we should always remember that some of the things that are done cannot always be said to be "naturally human" as we should be able to acknowledge the adversities that surround our every breathing moment.

And oh darn... i fell into the make shift pool that Marie and Ying Er made out of trash bags when blindfolded. I think my eyes still haven't recovered from what seemed like outer darkness. Anyway... KUDOS to the 2 of them for pulling off the whole mutual between just the both of them. ie carrying heavy tables and chairs and what have you down to the carpark area where we all got slaughtered and bullied by an unlikely figure in Mark who's always thinking that we're enemy soldiers or beasts meant for torture. This time we were blind (as bats) people. I distinctly remember Sis. Jeanie Foo saying "MARK! DON'T BULLY BLIND PEOPLE!"

just came back from dinner with Jaslyn, Caspar and Joyce after work. My wallet received a few cuts having to pay for the meal. we had NYDC which i still think was constricting my wallet but it was worth it having dinner with the 3 of them. Caspar kept going on how i will definitely end up in IMH. but then again... sometimes when u talk so much about it... those who say it might get it instead :P how superstitious. but i think strait jackets are kinda fashionable. har har.

monday was when i think i had one of the nicest EICs. haha. that makes i think 2. then there was tram duty with Joyce who's leaving soon on the friday of the week of chinese new year. had sinful snacks in the forms of waffle dished ice cream at ben & jerry's for the past 2 work days. today was the 1st of 3 off days. good thing i'm not so shape conscious. it was YUM. went out with Ifah (the EIC) and Joyce today just to catch a meal. they said i was looking around half drunk or half in my sleep actually.

waking up for seminary at 5 is no joke. Ally wanted to today so i thought to go too asking along Han and Wenjie (who couldn't wake up) haha. it was full of life talking to the temporary non-schoolers of year 4 (Sherman, Marie, Ying Er) and also Han and Ally. Sister Kate stayed behind to talk some bit with us too! then we met Pres. Lai who said we had to pay 11% tithing for using the rooms at the stake centre for extended periods. HAHA. he then proceeded to invite us (all those eligible and called young adults) to the fireside by Pres. Monson. but its gonna be video. would u think that he'd be so free as to come down all the way? well... we did a little fascinating about Pres. Monson coming... then there'd be like fan clubs and stuff with 'WE LOVE PRES. MONSON' banners with red carpets. there'd probably be a larger buffer area than the one which activates when any of the ministers roll by.

volleyball training was another episode of scary. some of us went back. and Simeon who was with us... sprained his ankle in mid air. freaky. so much that it was almost like slow motion.

ICE CREAM AFTER WORK HAS GOTTA BE THE BEST THING EVER!!!
(i think i'm gonna get fat working at e zoo. there's KFC and Ben & Jerry's that is so appealing when the staff lunch isn't... well... ermmm... agreeable with my taste buds and stomach. somehow, this is rather often when there's bones. and its prosaic amongst the mentality of nearly everyone that whatever with thin sharp bones like the ones in fish... that means u better get sth from the F&B outlets)

oh. another bad thing about having a station SO CLOSE to F&B outlets is that u can smell the FAT FRY GOODNESS of KFC just next door and just stare with gaping mouths salivating at the Ben & Jerry's scoop shop. had Ben & Jerry's with Caspar, Jaslyn and Joyce (Sam and Juraidah and Latifah almost stayed long enough for it) but there's TMR'S 2nd indulgence that will surely satiate their craving. anyway... back to the bad thing about being stationed near F&B outlets. u can smell it while doing entrance duty. the waffles from B&J and KFC from KFC wafting through the air. ure not spared even when u do duty at the visitors' centre. everytime i do checks on the first aid boxes at the visitors' centre i'd just die from induced thinking of food. u'd think we'd just crumble by having to do checks in the exact vicinity.

its nice to always have time to stretch ur legs a little when they've been out of real action. went back to help out the volleyball team today after that awesome sundae (i love cookie summit from swensen's) and indecisive ordering food session with wenjie, myra, and samantha. haha :D

Myra had her sourdough 49ers which i told her to order at e start but she was unwilling cos i thought of ordering it too. so to be nice... i decided to vary and try something else which caught my eye. mushrooms! well... it was a mushroom chicken burger with US fries. haha. Wenjie had some bread like thingy too. can't rmb the name :P and Samantha had a simple egg and mushroom omelette. how Myra actually decided to order the sourdough was quite funny. she was going 'Wenjie! turn the menu around around and around and stop somewhere' (while closing her eyes). then she'd like poke her finger on the menu at some random or predetermined place and see how luck went her way. first she landed an original prize of VEGETABLE BAKED RICE! HAHA! so she went for another spin. sounds like wheel of fortune. then she got sourdough. haha.

the package for mutual's dinner. KFC and canadian pizza delivery to the stake centre's doorstep. PLUS a wonderful sponge cake layered with smooth cream on top for Wenjie. haha.

in the wake of all the hoo-hah and releasing of emotional floodgates due to the release of O level results, it would all seem normal that i'd suddenly realize another real big round is just around the corner. all this talk about collecting results is actually making me nervous and probably not tingling with so much excitement, but at least it shares an equal or is slightly smaller portion as feeling assured about everything. but of course first things first,

CONGRATS TO HAN AND YING ER ON ACHIEVING SIMILAR FEATS! COUSIN POWER. haha (haven't heard e specifics from the rest yet. just hope they're good)

got teamed up with Caspar today at TS1. one thing i've immediately got to dislike about working at TS although its fun overall is this irritating guy who's the tram drivers' supervisor (i don't rmb his name cos its not worth remembering anyway) almost no link to us operations people but he's got some gut to come and boss us around and tell us off when he's the one slacking off like some deadweight loss. we should minimize such people.

got to know a lot of nice people in the tram drivers. there was Yasin, Kamis, Ikshan, Selamat and Helen. they whiz around all day and drop by TS1 which is the only one operating on weekdays and start talking real friendly and all with us. working with Caspar was really retarded, random and well... retarded. there's never a quiet moment. lunch today was hokkien mee. it was kinda dry and but still average i guess. i don't want to be too critical cos i was hungry at that time.

well... due to a FORTUNATE turn of events which i shall not reveal unless u ask me face to face, Caspar and I had sponsored Ben&Jerry's Ice Cream after work. It was SO GOOD. haha. then we headed down to Bongo Burgers for dinner where we met Dia (i don't know the spelling. but I think that's the pronunciation) and Mercedes (really... that's her name). We picked a superb spot to watch the fire eaters and tribal dance show which was just next to Bongo's.

beach volleyball was fun today although we hardly managed to really get down to seriously play and only managed to get about 3 matches with the fellow volleyball enthusiasts that populated the beach today. argh! fail lahh... i'm so out of touch. haha. Keane, Ryan, Qi Neng and Patrick came down to play and meet up with us the groupie from church (Sherman, David, Marie and me). then we met keane's friend and made some acquaintances. Russell and Yan Qing. i think.

there was the really fishing irritating group of pple who thought they were so big show and boss like when they looked like skinny little shrimps (seriously they look even much more frail and fragile if u think I'M skinny). well... they were so uncooperative in letting pple make use of the volleyball net they apparently brought and set up which was on public property when they weren't using it! well... who needs them? we played with another group of pple who were so kind and generous and sporty. they oughta hang themselves on the volleyball net for all i care.

UPDATE!
after getting sand in places all over and some i shall not say, we washed up a little before heading to Sherman's home to take a bath before heading down to Titus's bbq. the queues for the baths at sentosa were long and it was choking smoke cos of those incondiserate what-you-call-them... smokers who smoked at the toilets. its not that i can't stand smokers. but those who just kinda puff in ur face (ok. this is extreme) yeah. so kind old Sherman was nice to let us bathe at his house since it was just a short mrt ride down. took a snooze there. i don't know why but i knocked out really quickly half sitting half lying on a couch. there was this retarded show showing on his tv set.

then it was off to Titus's bbq on the whiz machine of Brother Eric Low and Sister Jascinda Low. its the green book van. haha. bbq was pretty cool and retarded at the same time. when we saw Titus, he started complaning about how Thaddeus threw away GOOD LAMB CHOP thinking it was garbage! Sister Christina Ng told Thaddeus to start breaking up the lamb chop pieces, but after a while when Thaddeus saw Sister Chris breaking up some meat, he thought it was LAMB CHOP when it was CHICKEN CHOP. haha. how he threw away the GOOD SLABS of LAMB CHOP even after that is still a mystery. and he broke bottles of sauce. but then...
THE BBQ WAS GOOD!
so it didn't matter i suppose though it'd be nice to have the lamb chop.

talking with Myra, Samantha and Thongz was super funny as it is normally. there was this mega huge talk about spongebob squarepants merchandise as known to be initiated by Thongz and largely, Myra. Well... it was in a recent post of Myra's. Also got to talk quite a bit with Sethrina, Zephyra and Thalia (as corrected on e spelling of the 2 younger one's names by Thongz). they are known as chicken, zebra and xiao za bo. Only happened to know Sethrina cos she was in one of my past years' YC groups, but she was kinda a bit quiet back then. ok. maybe she wasn't. but she was at that time i met her. and Ruth is Naruto's sister who got a real bad sun burn. How she actually imitated running like some ninjas as seen in the popular anime series is HILARIOUS. really looks the part. haha.

oh! Sherman, David and i did some of the bbq-ing. don't worry... we have SAFE hands. the food turned out alright didn't it? (determine for yourself if this is rhetorical if u went for the bbq) then there was this pulling activity at the fitness corner nearby. Titus is just good at it. making use of body weight in that sort of thing. maybe i should consider wrestling him since i've pinned the big guys in class :P

the day was SO good (:

YESTERDAY
on the way to institute, i happened to take the 67 bus that kandace and shem got on cos they were headed there after school. we found $20 on the road to church? wow. is this really a blessing? i don't know. but kandace reminded us to pay tithing out of that which we... erm... inherited. haha. institute is seriously a lot more livelier compared to last year. more youthful pple :P

dinner with the 2 more senior lees in the generation of YSA after institute. haha. had a nice long talk with spencer about some matters over dinner and on 66 too. thanks man! kenneth was entertaining his cousin amanda. had 2 nice plates of chao hor FUN and salted fish fried rice. oooo... high cholesterol anyone?

TODAY
went for seminary. haha. i had to wake up at 450am and run down to the bus stop over the hill to wait for the first bus. waiting for the first bus is sick. u never know if its early or late as the singapore public bus transport system has proved to be unpredictably inefficient albeit it being one of the better ones in the world. no thanks to drivers who choose to drive VERY slowly.

it was 610am when i finally reached and the year 4 class was extended to 650am i think since the churchies like sherman, ying er, david, marie, dennis, shuan, margaux and jeremy still have hols thanks to another experimental alteration of the singapore education system. but of course... it was fun... so no qualms. since sis. kate had to leave early i helped to record down scripture masteries done. sherman and dennis did 3, david 4, marie 4, shuan 5 and ying er... 6? and long ones mind you... she's like trying to finish everything (4 more) by tmr. haha. she was practically dying and suffocating her brain cells on no. 6.

after that long spell waiting for the scripture mastery fever to subside (HAHA) went down to toa payoh for a small breakfast with the tp pple (ying er, sherman, marie and david). on e way to e mrt we were like commenting on this guy's stripped clothes. sherman liked his pants. haha. marie went like... 'DON'T TALK BEHIND PEOPLE'S BUTTS! (LOL)' cos it got slightly out of hand. haha.

at breakfast... we segregated into sexual divisons and did our own small talk and blah blah. apparently we finished way before the girls and had talked for a LOOOONNNGGG time already and they were still not done with their buttered croissants at bistro delifrance while we digged in at subway. they made an awesome decision to watch TWILIGHT! a 2nd for ying er, marie and sherman. david and i were the blockheads who didn't manage to go catch the movie. but YAY. finally we did.

this week has been a happier one (: seriously...
(oh. notice the bigger smiley)
albeit the shock at e zoo

the worst thing that can happen to someone who's kind of started work anywhere is to get blamed for security issues not due to one's own doing. but... thank goodness for the advent of cameras! SLRs, digitals and the all important video camera too! well... when the 'crime' took place i was actually sleeping against a wall at the locker room - it being my break :P

i was seriously freaked out. like i am some sort of fugitive on the run or really already caught and being suspected and having to take side and front profile pictures in jail clothes.

watch PONYO ON THE CLIFF BY THE SEA!
its like superbly magnificento! :D
this movie is seriously one of the best and most highly rated jap flicks and the story line revolves around a boy and this tiny humanoid fish and its name is Ponyo as given by the boy Sosuke and it has a human enough looking face. there's alot of this talk about the disturbance of humans on how they are destroying the stability of mother nature which centers around the ocean. and then Ponyo unleashes her supernatural abilities and the small little island located somewhere in japan (i suppose) is flooded till unthinkable heights. well... actually the story is a vastly different rendition from the children disney favourite of the little mermaid packed with a whole lot more twists especially cos it involves a 5 year old boy and his new-found pet gold fish Ponyo who becomes a little girl instead of a mermaid being attracted to prince. the visuals depicted in this film are definitely stunning and the best thing is that its rated G (:

day out with Trent, Myra and Ally was WOW (: haha. then it was mutual with the TP YM gang.

went to get OJA pay from e zoo before that to finance today otherwise i would be wallet would sob and eventually become just an empty bulge in my pocket. and this was lucky too. read below. anyway... caught kandace at work at e zoo (which was the reason she couldn't catch lunch and movie with us. what a lousy reason. KIDDING!)

$10 for lunch, (.99 per sushi plate restaurant nihon mura)
$6 for a carls' junior milkshake (YUM),
$6.50 for dinner at KFC with Sherman, David, Marie, Ivan and Bro. Alan Tai,
$12 for PONYO ON THE CLIFF BY THE SEA (amazing show really - and i had to treat myra cos she says i owed her when i didn't - hint to all those possible victims out there... don't use the words 'i treat'. haha. KIDDING. it was ok... just not too often)
and another $10 for the ez link (its a pain now that its adult fare *imagine an emoticon in pain*)
